Found 2 NiC's but only one installed


Hi,

Installed mandrake 9.2. When I wanted to configure internet access, is found out that mandrake installd eth0 and eht1 but I only have one NIC. How can I remove one?

it clearly found something if considers another NIC chipset. is it possible you have one built onto the motherboard?

Yup. You almost certainly have an onboard card. You can disable it in your BIOS most likely.

There were two lines in the modules.conf file

alias 3c509 eth0
alias 3c509 eth1


I removed the second line. Now its good

The strange thing: when I try to connect to the internet, the eth0 NIC goes down for 10 seconds than nothing happend (no internet connection) an the NIC goes up again.

What could it be?
