Force 3com 905c to 100mb - how 2?

I searched around and do not see this question....

How do I force the eth0 which has a 3com905c nic to 100mb full duplex?

From a shell the commands below are not found:
ifconfig
ehtool

I looked in the GUI portion and did not find a way either.

Thanks

George.

Hi geberle, welcome to lq. Have a look at mii-tool, and ethtool.

The card should auto-negotiate which will pick the correct speed. It just reminds me, once I was trying to do the same thing beacuse my card was registering as 10mbit, so I was trying to force 100mbit. It refused to work. After about a week of trying, I realized I had an old 10mbit hub in the way!

Just thought I would add that in.

That's a very good point, check the entire network, it may not be the nic afterall.
good luck.
