Firewall Setup Q
Hello all Iv got a question and hope someone can help me out on it.
My vision of a secure network involves using my older linux box as a firewall, now no problem with that 2 network cards in the thing and some ip rules and its a go. I realize that, but what I want to do is keep my current linksys router in the setup, I have wireless and landline so the linksys router is a must keep thing, besides I like it, it handles the DHCP just fine.
What I want to know is if my vision is possible:
----------eth0------------eth1------------------
|Internet|----| FireWall |----| Linksys Router |--Internal Network
----------eth0------------eth1------------------
Now I'm thinking (but have not attempted yet) that eth0 on the linux box gets its IP address from my ISP (DHCP) now I set eth1 manually to whatever I want and then plug the ethernet cable from my eth1 to my linksys routers WAN port and configure the WAN port on the router manually to the same settings to make it think that the eth1 connection feed which is really my linux box is the internet .. Now is that possible ?
