Fine tuning my system for Internet
(Using Fedora Core-1)
hi ..
ive been noticing that whenever i reset (turn off and turn back on) my cable modem , at first it gives really cool speeed .. downloading is like 25kb/sec which i good for me .. but as i start using it .. after like 10 or 5 mins the internet gets really slow .. downloading gets down to 2kb/sec and surfing really sucks ... its not that my isp is doing something (welll could be) but the whole internet speed almost stops .. when im back in winxp ... it works fine !!
maybe there is a virus but i the thing is i just installed the FC1 on my system .. FRESH COPY ... and am geting this problem .. before this i was using UBUNTU and the same thing was happening in it as well ..
do i need to do some TWEEKING to get good speed ?
maybe i need a firewall for bloking stuff ?
what do i need to do in order to keep the net speed as it is whenever i do a reset ?
