Find out own pc's ip address in linux

Hi im new to linux, i was wondering how do you find out your own ip address because my bro's pc has a firewall imbeaded into it and u can't disable it so i can't access it and he can't see mine on the network because his pc is windows xp (he needs the ip to add to his safe list so he can allow me to access his pc) What i mean is find out the ip address of the linux pc from the linux pc not from an external location
