Filesharing help!!

Ok this is what I want to do, I would appreciate all help.

I have 2 computers, one with pure linux and one with pure windows xp.

I have had the Windows computer for a while and I just got the computer with linux.

I want to be able to connect the computers and share the files. Ex: The Windows computer has all of my music and I would like to transfer it to my linux computer. And my linux computer has some stuff I would like to transfer to my Windows computer.

How can I do that? What programs do I need? Do I need to connect them with a wire? If you cannot explain it yourself can you direct me to a link.

Thank you so much.

I have also heard of something where you just have a password and anybody who knows the pass can get into your computer and copy the stuff. How can I do that? Is it FTP?Or SSH?

if you want to share files between the computers on a regular basis, you can look at Samba.

If this is a one time copy, you can go in for ssh. The sshd daemon should be running on your linux system. Download a ssh client for windows - Putty and you can run the command

C:\Program Files\Putty> pscp -R <path to your miusic files > user@linuxmachine:/path/to/destination/folder/
