I set a windows share of full share. I use smbmount in linuxu to mount the share to a directory. When i try to chmod 777 that dir it doesnt give a error message but still only root can write to it. Whats the problem?

windows partitions don't support the linux file permission so chmod won't work. To fix your problem just use the umask=0222 option that smbmount should have.
