file sharing


hey, i have a home network with 6 computers, 5 running windows and 1 running linux. i can easily get shared files from my windows computer using linneighborhood, but how can i share files on my linux box with the windows machines.

you need to configure samba server via settings in /etc/smb.conf

i have always had bad luck with samba...i can never get it to run properly...is there another way to trasfer or share files....if not, i'll have to give samba another try

nope, why reinvent the wheel? samba is what you need, and it does it's job obscenely well. you might prefer a cofiguration interface like webmin to help you out...
