file permissions in samba
i have set up a samba server. the directory structure looks like this:
main directory - everybody can read this directory but cant change anything
subdirectory1 - everybody can read but only the group can write and
execute in it
subdirectory2 - same as subdirectory1
here is my problem. when people who are in the group subdirectory1 create a new folder or file, or move a folder or file to the samba box only they have a right to make changes to that folder or file, not everybody in the group. i need everybody in that group to be able to read, write and execute any file or folder created by anybody in the group. i have read about forced group and forced user but i believe that would only apply to the share, which is the main directory. please help if you can. thank you.

force create mode = 770
in your
smb.conf
file.
This would allow anyone in the group to RWX the files created.
I'm not sure this is *exactly* the answer you're looking for... let me know, and I'll do what I can.
Edit:
Take a look at this..
http://daniel.fiser.cz/?go=samba
It's a tutorial for setting up a PDC with Samba, but it has some information that might apply to your situation.

I'd try it in the share settings, and if it doesn't work, move it to global...
