Samba and XP
This is something that I have been trying to get to work for several days. Please advise if you are successful.
For the record, I have Fedora 4, and two XP Pro machines. I can connect from the Linux box to the XP boxes, but cannot login to the Fedora machine. I see the Fedora server from the XP machines, [icon in network neighborhood] but have not been able to solve the login problem, including editing the smb.conf file to accept encrypted passwords. There are several suggestions that I have researched on the net that I have tried.

Thanks - I need to look through thoroughly and compare with what I have tried. The permutations are extensive and there seems to be some misinformation, or at least variability depending on actual individual configuration.

rwelshe,
Are you planning on setting up a webserver on your Linux server?

I now have my Windows network setup including the Fedora server. I can see all shared files going both directions. Everything went smoothly...
The only little problem I had was that I couldn't see my Linux share from my windows pcs. I went back into Fedora and added my connecting username and added myself to all groups, including adm. Not sure which did it, but it works now...

Thanks for the feedback. I am sure I have a permissions problem, and will have to look further.
I may not get to it this weekend, and I will be out of town for a couple of weeks.
Thanks again,
Robert Welshe
