Fedora Networking Problem!
Hi to everyone!
I've just installed Fedora Core 1 , everything seems to work properly but I couldn't set up the network configuration. I have a router (ericsson hm220d with DHCP activated , 10mbps halfmode), but with the wizard configiguration of the ethernet (with dhcp activated),I can't activate my eth0. I tried using both mii-tool and ethtool from shell ( ethtool -s eth0 10 mbps and half duplex)...but it doesn't work....
sorry for my english and for my bad linux knowledge(I'm just a newbie)!
thanks a lot!!!

How hard is it to read the rules here? It might help if we knew what card you were using?

I am also having this problem, I downloaded the latest fedora ISO's from redhat this past weekend and burned them today. The install went fine accept for a 100dpi font file being corrupt. I installed onto the following hardware.
Maxtor 6.4 gig HD
Asus P2L97(err I think maybe a different one)
but its a P3 450 with 128 meg of ram
nothing real fancy, I started with a 3com 905btx nic
Went through the install and set it up as a static IP address and filled it all in, and when it was ready to use no network access at all. Couldn't ping my router, couldn't ping the router or any other hosts on the network. I could however ping myself.
Now the link light is on and the network card works as I had BSD on this exact system in this location and it worked just fine. Then I thought hmm maybe the card is bad or something so I switched to another card(905btx) and set it up as DHCP, and it wouldn't pickup an IP address at all, then I tried it on a etherlink 3(ISA, 509) nada, Dlink no dice, NE2000(RUlink), nope.
So now I am stuck as I can't figure what the heck is goin on with all these .rc directories. I read somewhere there was a bug with fedora and eth0, is that what I am encountering?

Here is a link to the bugzilla report I read
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/...g.cgi?id=10854
it mentions that the file /etc/conf.modules is not being written properly, but I do not see that file at all. Is that the problem that this file is not being written at all?

Yeah. I'd say just get the heck out of dodge... er.. I mean, um. Get a different distro than fedorah like Suse or Mandrake and you'll be fine. If you got time check out gentoo as it'll make your system seem faster than its ever been.
P.S. This isnt the Realtek 8139 wireless card is it? Cause that's a whole different story with drivers from realtek's website and a whole load of crap your better off not even going through.

25 days? Dude... that's awful. Seriously. You wanna start with gentoo then and download the universal cd for your cpu type. Or at least go get yourself a cd of knoppix and use it to install gentoo so you have stuff to tinker with while you download.

I just whimped out and finally got around to configuring X on BSD, I want to learn KDE, so good 'ol freeBSD will have to be good enough for me til I get around downloading something else. Its not really the system thats slow its my crappy ISP here at work, our upload bandwidth is awesome our download is a whole nother story.
Only tproblem there is I can't seem to get more than 256 color to work, I am using a rage2c and an OptiquestQ51 both are supported, but I guess this problem belongs in another forum.
