Fedora Network Issue
I am pretty much a beginner in the world of Linux. I have ran systems ranging from Linux Advanced Server, RedHat 9, Mandrake 9 and now Fedora 1.
I just installed Fedora 1 on a PC that was running RedHat 9 and for some reason I can't get the NIC to work properly. In my /var/log/messages I get a TX error (TX status register 90). My DNS is correctly configured, NIC settings are correct. I can ping the localhost or local IP address but when I try to ping my DNS Server or Workstations I get destination host unreachable.
This is the error message:
eth0: Tansmit error, Tx status register 90.
Flags; bus-master 1, dirty 1(1) current 17(1)
Transmit list 1cf4e280 vs. dcf4e240.
0: @dcf4e200 length 8000002a status 8000002a
same thing with slight differences in length status from 0: to 15:
My home network consists of:
Cable ISP
SonicWall Firewall with a built-in 5 port 10-100 switch (auto-sense)
Windows 2000 Advanced Server running DNS for local hosts
Windows XP Pro client
Windows 2000 Pro Dell laptop
Fedora 1 PC
IP scheme similiar to the following:
Router 192.168.1.1
Wireless Router 192.168.1.2
DNS Server 192.168.1.3
Client addresses statically assigned 192.168.1.48 and higher.
What I don't understand is how RedHat 9 or Mandrake 9 will work on this computer and Fedora 1 won't. I haven't changed any hardware or hardware configurations. My /etc/resolv.conf and /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 are correct (or configured to work like they did in RH9 and M9).
Anyone have any info that might help this newbie? I appreciate very much all the help I have received from this site so far!! You folks are the brains that will keep the Linux efforts alive.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!!
