fedora network configuration tool and kppp?

I have just installed fedora core 1 - I then used the 'system tools' internet configuration wizard to set up my internet connection (or so I thought) and ended up at the end of the wizard in the netwrok configuration window. It shows that my internet connection as a 'type' in the listing of devices. However, I then set up the isp details again in kppp and now use kppp to connect / disconnect. The info in network configuration appears to remain the same with the modem connection remaining inactive whether I am connected to the internet or not...

I can't understand what the 'internet connection wizard' actually did as it seems that kppp is the better way of initiating a 'connect / disconnect' to the web.. do I need the modem info in network configuration? I noticed that clicking 'activate' would initiate a connection but it didn't change the status to 'active' - so what exactly is the point of the network config tool with respect to the internet connection wizard?

Many thanks!!

"so what exactly is the point of the network config tool with respect to the internet connection wizard?"

There is some redundency here. You can set up your connection with system tools, kppp, wvdial, or gnome-ppp. Pick whichever one you prefer and ignore the rest.
