Ok, Webmin Is on the computer and works everytime you boot up.
So does samba.
Since i ran the 'linux live update' things are a little quirkey but still functioning.
I made a folder and shared it all with the webmin program.
Round II,

When the linux box is running, and you browse the network on a windows computer there is nothing there. The linux box makes it say that the workgroup is unavailable right now.
but I can still ping all the IP addresses on the network, even the linux box, and at the same time, I can access the linux box as well. It askes me for a longin name and password !!!
Whoo Hooo !!! So funtionality is there to some degree, but when Linux box is 'Samba Serving' none of the windows computers can see the network.

I have NOT manualy edited the smb.conf file one time since this new install of fedora.

If you want, I can paste it here so you can see it.

Does my problem come from 'master browser' setting ?
what should it be set at so that it just shows up in 'my netowrk places' on windows along with all the other computers ?

hi guys!

i am also new to linux. but as far as I can remember, aren't we supposed to add the user to a group?

# useradd user1
# passwd user1
# groupadd -g <gid>
# groupadd -a ..... -d /dev/null -g <gid> .... user1$
#smbpasswd -a user1 -g <gid> user1

sorry i can't remember the exact commands. i still have to find my notes. i hope this would come up with an idea
