Fedora Core 5 / Aironet 350 Problems

Haven't able to get my Cisco Aironet 350 wirless card working with Fedora Core 5. Any ideas?
Here's what I've checked

!! Drivers seem ok

airo 64609 1 airo_cs
[root@host ~]#

!! Wireless config looks ok, but AP shown as "invalid" ;-(

!! plenty of nwid errors here, but don't how to relate to cause
[root@host ~]# more /proc/net/wireless

[root@host ~]#

!! no cigar when trying to bring up the intf
[root@host ~]#/sbin/ifup eth1
Determining IP information for eth1... failed.
[root@host ~]#/

Access point is configured WEP, Open, 128-bit key. I already got another box connected to it. I've double check key. I've also verified that the wireless card works fine on the other box.

I'm running out of ideas on how to further troubleshoot this.

This one is making my head spin...
Went down the firmware path... downgrade from 5.02.19 to 4.25.30, then upgrade to 5.60.21. Still no cigar ;-(

When running iwevent, I see the mode, key and essid info being sent and then all packets being dropped
"eth1 Tx packet dropped:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF"

I even put the card on an XP box and it runs just perfect.

ok, let's close the loop on this. Turns out that wireless speed had to be configured as "auto" instead of 11mb. That despite the fact that the AP (NetGear) is configured to operate at a 11mb rate.
Problem solved.
Thanks for listening.
