can you ping anything?
I bet its the entry in /etc/resolv.conf
it should have the entry for the nameserver (dns server)
the entry looks like below, where the ipaddress is for your isp dns server
nameserver 192.168.0.1

ok do you have an ip address?
ifconfig
if so all you need to do is enter your ISPs DNS server in the /etc/resolv.conf
added like this
nameserver <ipaddress>

how do i find out my isps dns server?
it says that ifconfig isnt a command
i also tried ipconfig, (incase u misspelled) and no luck
i also tried both of those as root.... and still it says command not found
[edit] also please keep in mind that my nic card is plugged in but there is no ethernet plugged into my nic card right now because i have to bring my dsl modem upstairs and plug it into another computer to post online!
so if anything requires my modem to be hooked up to the comp that has fedora on it, please state that in your post... thanks everyone

you can get the dns of your isp by using ipconfig on your windows box......
ifconfig should be there on linux. if you can't find it you need to modify your path.
try this to locate it.
> locate ifconfig
