Fedora 6 / Network Issues
Hi everybody,
I just installed Fedora core 6, everything seems to be running fine except one thing. I can view my linux server from my other computers on the network at home, Windox XP, and Server 2003. I can even share a directory using Samba, and browse the folder from my windows computers. But, if I go on my Fedora Box, and click on network -> workgroup, I get an error saying "Cannot display workgroup contents" or something to that effect. Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening. I even turned the filewall off on the Fedora box, but still, cannot browse my network. Another thing I noticed is that, if I look at my network connections settings in Fedora, it says localhost.localdomain . Why is that, do I need to change that. Now I havent messed with any nework settings, only samba. And another thing, when I ping my fedora box from windows xp, the name it returns is "fedora.hsd1.comcast.net" And my workgroup name for the fedora box is well you guessed it, "fedora". Anybody know how I can get this on the right track? Thanks, |
No one wants to take a stab at this?
