Arrow Fedora 2 pcmcia/network eth0 fix!

I spend the better part of last night and this morning trying to get my new Fedora 2 installation to recognize my ethernet card (it IS a supported model).

After much frustration, I located a webpage (some restriction isn't allowing me to post the link!!! ).

It turns out that the network service was being started *before* pcmcia, which resulted in the machine not seeing the ethernet card. By changing the priority of the services around, this problem was resolved and the remaining configuration was not complicated.

Since I can't link, here's a cut and paste of the instructions:
Open /etc/init.d/pcmcia

Change the line

# chkconfig: 2345 24 96

# chkconfig: 2345 09 96

Yes, itís in a comment, but it seems it has meaning to the chkconfig command (see below).

chkconfig --level 2345 pcmcia reset

On reboot, pcmcia should now run before network, allowing Fedora to initialize the card.

I've seen numerous posts complaining of similar problems with Fedora 2, thought I'd pass this along!

Thumbs up Thank you

I can't tell you how much your post helped me today. I'm new to Linux, and getting my Xircom PCMCIA card to work has been driving me insane!

Thanks for ending my last 2 days of misery.
