fedora 2 exchanges eth1 and eth0

I have

alias eth0 sis900
alias eth1 orinoco_pci

in my modprobe.conf for my nic and wireless card.

If I am not connected to a wire I end up with eth0 connected to my wireless card instead of eth1. The messages.log shows that during boot the ethernet card was initially connected to eth0 and wireless to eth1 and then both seem to be probed again and their connections are reversed.

This is just since updating to fedora 2; it did not happen with fedora 1.

How can I keep the wireless card at eth1?

have you tried compiling your nic modules into your kernel? as they'll be loaded the same way every time, it should keep them in the same order
