Unhappy FC6: wpa_supplicant using ipw2100 and wext

Hi all,

I was wondering if this is the right place to post about issues with wpa_supplicant; I have tried searching through the forum for associated topics, but could not get far. Could somebody please help me with this problem?. I will try and include maximum details, but please do ask me for more information if needed. Also apologise for the long post, that was the advise on the left.

Distro: Fedora Core 6
Kernel: 2.6.18-1.2868.fc6
wpa_supplicant version: v0.4.9

Output of lspci: 01:03.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter (rev 04)

I am using the above card with the ipw2100 driver. The driver seems correctly installed as I am able to access the Internet over an open wireless network.

The problem comes when I invoke wpa_supplicant. I invoke it as follows:

Quote:
wpa_supplicant -Dwext -ieth1 -d -c/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf

I get the error as below:

Quote:

While the wpa_supplicant is running, I checked the ifconfig eth1 and got the following:

Quote:

iwconfig eth1 shows the following:

Quote:
[root@wks eth1_info]# iwconfig eth1

Can somebody figure out what the issue is? I know I am using -Dwext however, when I try to do a lsmod|grep wext, I don't get anything, it seems not present. Can somebody also tell me how to use wpa_supplicant with ipw2100?

Thanks a lot.

Kind regards,
Bea
