FC4 doesnt want me to access the LAN
Hii
We have a LAN set up here in my institute.
I recently upgraded my distro from RedHat 9 to FC4 and since then i cannot acces the LAN.
I could easily access the LAN when I used RedHat and when I installed FC4 i made the same changes in the configuration of samba server.Now I dont know where to access LAN from.A "Network" icon appears in the window when i click the Computer icon on desktop.Clicking the Network icon shows a "Windows Network" icon.On clicking this icon nothing appears.....
Am i reguired to do some more configuration somewhere or is something else wrong.Can someone please guide me......
Thanking u....

Hi crimsonflame123,
You have to mount the samba share onto your local machine. without mounting the samba share you wont be able to access it. also u could use the "smbmount" command which comes with the 'smbclient' package. I think you must also check your samba server, how its setup etc....
vimal...

Cant blame you...
What you click has a name... Nautilus ?
Please be more descriptive and thoughtfull before you ask, because unless you say what S/W you clicked and you got error, we cannot give you a vague answer. FC4 and RH9 are two completely different things dont expect the same functionalities.
I am presuming from your post, hence
Configure your LAN with 'system
#>system-config-network
Remember SE Linux is enabled in FC4 so disable it by default by editing the file /etc/sysconfig/selinux
SELINUX=disabled
regards
