FC3 + XP Networking

Hi guys,

I am new to networking and also first time user of Linux. Yesterday only I installed FC3.

I have WinGate installed on my machine so that others (sharing with colleagues) could also use high speed DSL connection. However, I wish to be able to use and work Linux and internet on my machine, and this should not effect their using internet. I have to swtich mode to XP so they could use internet and this is irritating. Could you please be kind enough to suggest a solution.

Thank you very much.

I would start squid on your linbox.
configuration under /etc/squid/squid.conf
start with /etc/init.d/squid start

the other (XP)machines can use this machine as httpproxy.
change proxysettings on XP to IP:3128

You could also get a hub and/or a router - that way your machine wouldn't even need to be plugged in for others to access the network.
