Export Display From Sun -> Red Hat

Hello everyone.

I really need some advice here, I've been working on this for a couple of days without any luck. So here it goes:

At home I have a Red Hat9 box, and winxp box. I connect to redhat from winxp using vnc. From the RedHat box I ssh -X to a remote sun microsystems server. On the sun system i do the export DISPLAY=:redhatip:0.0 When I start the X application (xclock, netscape) everything looks fine, I get no "can not open display" message, but the window never comes up on the redhat display. I also issue the xhost + command on redhat before I ssh to the remote system.

X11 forwarding is enabled on the sun system. What could be wrong? Can it be because I use vnc to connect to the red hat system? Or do I need some ports opened on the RH system?

any help is much appreciated.

thanks

nm, I figured it out. I had to open a port ( 6000 ) . Once it was open, it ran fine if I was on the redhat box, but trough vnc I still get some xlib error message.. thats an other project for an other day..
