EW-7128G PCI Wireless Card undetected in Slackware 12.2

Hello.

I am using an Edimax EW-7128G PCI Wireless Card in a Dell Dimension 4700 that is currently undetected running under Slackware 12.2. I am able to use the same NIC with fedora 10 however.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Here is the output of lspci -v:

Hello Noviciado,

What makes you say the card is not detected, as according to lspci the driver e100 is in use ?

You can check that with 'lsmod|grep e100' and, would you get no result, try to load it though with "modprobe e100".

Also, please send output of 'ifconfig -a'.

PS You use a stock kernel, do you ?

But from your former thread I thought that issue was solved ???

Unless I'm missing something, e100 is in use by my ethernet connection, and not by the wireless card I said I was trying to use.
I don't see any wireless card being detected in the lspci output.

ifconfig only lists eth0 and lo, and no wlan0.

That was a different issue, and I did resolve it -- thanks for your help there. I started a new thread for this new issue.

Sorry I should have read better

Unfortunately I have no clue.

Almost there, still no connectivity.
I ended up going to the following link, downloading compat-wireless-2.6 and installing it:
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Download
The wireless card was then detected upon reboot.

I'm looking here : http://www.slackbook.org/html/networ...-wireless.html
to configure the wireless. I edited rc.wireless.conf and put my 'essid' and 'key' into the generic section, rebooted, and could not ping out. I then tried iwconfig,

Code:

# iwconfig wlan0 essid "mynetwork"
# iwconfig wlan0 key XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

but this not change anything.I also tried using different channels.
Code:

# ifconfig -a

dhcpcd horror...
I followed this post,
http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/87018-post11.html
which meant:

Code:

# iwconfig wlan0 essid "mynetwork"
# iwconfig wlan0 key XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
# dhcpcd wlan0

This didn't work, but definitely did something adverse. It froze the terminal with which I was ssh'd into the slackware machine, so I needed to hard reboot. When I try to ssh into it now, it takes about 25 seconds before it prompts me for my password. I deleted
/dhcpcd-wlan0.info and /dhcpcd-wlan0.cache in /etc/dhcpcd/, but this didn't resolve the problem. Anyone know how to fix this?
