Ethernet network not responsive

Hello +

Until two days ago, my PC running Mandrake Linux 10 community was brilliant.
Suddenly the network went down, so I did the normal thing and tried the cables, pulled power plugs, reconnected, rebooted, but nothing helps.

I access through a cable modem via an ethernet port.
The cable modem has 1 ethernet and 1 USB port, I've used both simultaneously before, and the USB port is how I get this message out from
an XP laptop.

My PC network card is an ADM983 Linksys Etherfast 10/100 running tulip

Below is the output from ifconfig, and I see TX errors, but I have no idea how to resolve or repair.

Please help ! I have to use my wife's WIN machine, and it hurts the conscience. And I miss my shell.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Please try reseting your cable modem to factory default settings n then configure it again or ask the vendor to do the needful.

Modem is ok

Nice idea, but the modem is fine, ethernet works fine, resetting changed nothing.
I believe the problem MAY be the network card itself, so if any one can recommend
a diagnosis tool for network cards in Mandrake Linux, that might be useful.
Otherwise, is it possible for me to run the install routine again and reconfigure the
network card, WITHOUT losing everything else I've upgraded and installed since
the first installation ?

Thanks for ideas...
