ethernet fax

I would like to have fax capability via my T1-equivalent DSL connection in my home office.
I have an ethernet switch to which I can connect computers/peripherals, so I'm assumming i can connect a fax machine with an ethernet port to it. Do I have to have any special software in Linux to do this? or enhance it?

Unless I'm thinking of a completely different type of fax I can't see how this would work. When somebody sends a fax they dial into your fax machine. If you put your fax machine onto IP then they couldn't call you.

Now I may be wrong, but this would work if you had VOIP. I have never seen a fax machine with an RJ45 jack though.
