eth1 dilema
Hello all
I am having problems getting my machine w/multiple NIC's configured.
I am running Slackware 8.0 kernel 2.4.5
The 2 NIC's are:
D-Link DFE=530TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter
Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet (NC100 V2)
ifconfig shows eth0 and the card that the is working is the NE (NC100 V2) but the D-Link is not being seen on reboot.
ifconfig -a shows eth0 & eth1.
I have tried uncommenting the following in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules
/sbin/modprobe tulip //NE adapter
/sbing/modprobe via-rhine //D-link adapter
when I uncommented the via-rhine chipset I was then able to see the other card w/ifconfig -a but I'm trying to make these changes permemant as opposed to having to ifconfig up eth1 each time.
Doing some research I've found that adding the following:
append = "ether=0,0,eth1"
to lilo.conf was supposed to do the trick but it doesn't so I then recompiled the kernel and enabled both:
DECchip Tulip (dc21x4x) PCI support &
VIA Rhine support
but still no luck.
Does anyone know how I could enable my D-Link adapter and then netconfig each adapter so that the changes are permanent please please please? I've been at this for 4 days so far and I give up......well, not really, but I can't think of anything else or find anything else on the net.
thx sooo much in advance
</nicholas>
