I've just installed Redhat 8.0 on a Dell Dimension 4300S. The installation seems OK but when it boots up it fails on the eth0 activation. Trying to activate it manually also fails.
My ethernet adapter is a CNET PRO200WL. At the Linux-Tested site it indicates that Redhat has certified this as working. I note that the module for that is dmfc. However, the module that is loaded is dmfe, so it looks like perhaps Linux is not recognizing the correct adapter. Any thoughts on how to force the correct module to load?

Try typing "modprobe dmfc" and then see if your network works. If it does, then you need to edit /etc/rc.d/rc.local and add a line like "modprobe dmfc" so that this module is initiated on each boot. There may be a more elegant way of doing this in RH 8.0, but I don't actually use your distro.
I tried the modprobe (which certainly sounded like an excellent idea) and it says "Cannot locate dmfc". Looked around with find and the only dmf* to be found is dmfe. So where should I load the module from?? (last question with reference to second reply).
