eth0 failled ---check cables


I 'm using fc2 and did update the kernel
I get the message that eth0 ------failed check cable
can someone help me with that issue?

which type of cable are u connecting with? which os are u connecting to? are u connecting with a hub? router? give a bit more information and then we will be able to help u :-)

Pentium3
OS: Fedora core 2
using a Router E-Tech adsl modem router.
I don't really know what I did with the pc but , I'm getting some
rare reactions .
check cables or
checksum error
I don't get it
now everything is working but I can get the machine on the net

U still have not said which OS u r connecting to. do u connect to another computer?
if u can not ping from one computer to another then it could be the cable.

U will have to give more information

I want to connect to the internet
about OS I'm using FEDORA CORE 2
if OS as the meaning I know.
under a router with firewall

Post output of ' ifconfig ' command?
How have you setup eth0? static or dhcp
When connected to router does it light up the port?
Is there any lights on anywhere?
Do you have the module for the nic loaded?
