Unhappy eth0 dies on Fedora Core 4

Hi!

I have a strange problem here. I recently installed the new Fedora 4 and it went fine, but now I have a problem with my ethernet card. Suddenly my internet connection dies! Afterwards I can't get it up. When the computer boots everything is ok the connection comes up and works for a few hours. I know this isn't a problem with the internet provider because another computer I have works just fine like nothing happened.

What's happening??? How can I fix it??? Any ideas???

DHCP-troubles?

Hi,

I'm not sure, just switched from SuSE to Fedora and can't find my way in Fedora yet. But one thing comes up when reading the log. Did u also install a DHCP-server on your machine? If yes and your ISP provides DHCP then u will have two DHCP-servers blocking each other. If u put a router between your cable or ADSL modem and your PC the same thing can happen. The same thing will happen if u place the router and modem parallel to your PC. If u want them parallel, disable DHCP in the router and change the IP-adresses if necessary. Uninstall the DHCP server package if installed, u don't need it !!!

good luck!!!

ronald
