Ok here is my problem
I downloaded Mandrake 10.0 Official
From the Mandrake Official Website.
After i installed it on my computer the internet is not working at all
I cant even get a ping from the computer or the router that are sitting right next to it. After skipping school and reading abou 1/2 the f*****g site on mandrake 10.0 network problems I have come up with nothing .

I have a shuttle MK40VN mother board with onboard sound/video & lan.
I have a Gigafast Ethernet router a Terayon Cable modem that hooks up to the router. I have 3 machines on the router This one (XP), My Brothers (XP, and the Mandrake one, im having trouble with.

Any help would be apreciated.

Ill try to keep you guys updated on what i do.

It takes some troubleshooting skills. First look at the output of the command:
/sbin/ifconfig

Does it show any info for eth0, like an IP address etc? If not then we need to verify if the network interface module is being loaded. So check out the motherboard specs and what does it show for the integragted LAN? It is a VIA VT6103. Now what module us associated with LAN. I believe its the via-rhine. So check the output of
/sbin/lsmod

Does it list the module? If not try
modprobe via-rhine

If there are not any error messages then it was successfull. Now try configuring a static IP address
ifconfig eth0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx netmask xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx up
Of course replace the x's with a valid address based on the router's IP address.

Now try pinging the router.

However,
Do you have a firewall running? If so disable it. Are the link lights illuminated on the router and the LAN interface. If not then maybe you have a bad cable.
