What type of card? PC 100 doesn't turn up much related to ethernet cards. Please run from a konsole the command 'lspci' and post the results for the ethernet card.

What dirver is loaded? Please run the command '/sbin/lsmod' and post the results.

Since you think it's called eth0, do a 'cd /dev' and then run 'ls -l eth0' and see if the dev is there.

Post the results and we'll go from there.
