Unhappy error trying to install modem

I've got a winmodem, drivers installed OK based on the output given.
When I try to run:
modprobe lt_serial
it fails. This command runs insmod lt_serial I believe, so I tried running that against the file and the error message produced is -unresolved symbol. The file this comes from has only two lines in it to load and unload the driver , I'm assuming.
Does anyone know what might be the cause, and how I might go about fixing it. I've been though a lot of stuff and played around with different things, but can't seem to make it work. (
