error network printing linux to linux


Hi

My laser HP Printer P1102 installed in Ubuntu 12.04
then I have Linux Mandriva 2011 workstation trying to print thru smb connection

but theres an error message in the cups log

[error message]
[17/Jul/2013:16:42:45 +0800] [Job 3] printer-state-reasons=paused
[17/Jul/2013:16:44:22 +0800] [Job 3] Connection failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME
[17/Jul/2013:16:44:24 +0800] [Job 3] Connection failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME
[17/Jul/2013:16:44:26 +0800] [Job 3] Connection failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME
[17/Jul/2013:16:44:26 +0800] [Job 3] Unable to connect to CIFS host, will retry in 60 seconds...

Also in authentication i tried to use the user account from ubuntu to verify
but i got Not Authorized the password may be incorrect.

I have no idea where the error comes from but the account is valid in ubuntu PC.

you probably dont want ot use samba. the hplip driver works for me on fedora (with my hp pfficejet 4500 connected via ethernet to my router).

i want to use smb connection from mandriva, but i believed something problem in ubuntu smb.conf
and i hope someone can help.

If not Is there any recommendation what type of connection instead smb.

if you use the hplip driver in manriva will it discover the printer on the network ?

You can configure cups to share printers. You will need to configure the firewalls if running to allow port 631.

Hi

checking smb.conf I remove semi colon to the guest ok
and restart the service but still got same error

Ubuntu firewall is disabled also to mandriva.

my observation why the smb connection need to authenticate from mandriva to ubuntu
the only account registered in ubuntu is two account i used that still i got wrong permission

but there was no error in windows printing
if i connect from windows XP/7 to linux ubuntu no authentication needed

but in linux mandriva 2011 to linux ubuntu 12.04 need to authenticate
