Enabling SSI so I can use a site counter?

Hi all, I want to add a basic text counter to my website. I found a script here that I want to use. It says it requires Server Side Includes. I am somewhat of an Apache newbie. I have been reading all about SSI, but I seem to be getting more confused than anything else, although I am hearing that this is not that hard. Hmmm...

Anyway, I downloaded the script from the above site, set it up according to instructions, but it is not working. Nothing at all is being displayed on the page I have it set up for (which is http://www.bartlett-family.net/home.html by the way).

I can only assume that it is not working (not generating any errors, either) because SSI simply isn't enabled. Can anyone tell me what exactly I should be looking for in the httpd.conf file? I'll post it if necessary as a text file. How do I enable SSI, in other words... It's apache 2.x on a RH 8 machine, compiled from source.

Thanks!

Chris

Cool down there, newbie... LQ is for asking questions and answering questions, not yelling at people.
