Enabling SNMP on Suse 10

Hi there,

I need to enable SNMP on our Suse linux boxes, so that What's Up Gold can monitor them.

I need to add the community name, that I know, but where?

Suse 10? Latest is 11.3.

Have you tried Yast2 under Services?
You could also do it manually if you know what files to edit.

Hi kidzer0,

/etc/snmp/snmpd.conf is a file you need to edit.

rocommunity public 127.0.0.1 <= or your server ip

Thanks - I think I figured it out.

Also, I know 11.3 is the latest, but this is an IBM Balanced Cluster Unit that runs Datastage and Websphere.
