enable network card at boot up

hi,

I'm using slackware 10, and have a pci network card installed, but it does not load up at start up, when I type "ifconfig", only "lo" is listed, so the "eth0" is not activated at bootup, I would like to have the "eth0" enabled at boot up, but tried various way, it does not work.
I can only activate mannually each time by "ifconfig eth0 up" command, please help on slackware 10, how to get it activated at bootup, and the meantime, I would like to set it to dhcp client, so that I can accept cable internet connection

thanks in advance

not completely sure with slack, but you probably just need to config the /etc/conf.d/net and /etc/resolv.conf

Try looking in:

/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/
/etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/

or:
updatedb
locate ifcfg-eth0

That will tell you the location of the ifcfg-eth0 file which is what you must edit. References to /etc/conf.d/net could just be symbolic links to other locations, but it doesn't matter where the file is located.

Open it with vi and find the line with ONBOOT=no and change it to ONBOOT=yes

Reboot the machine and test if it comes up.
