Question Enable network card

I'm running Suse 10.1. I finally managed to install my network card (realtek 8168). But i always have to enable it manually with ifconfig eth0 up. Is there a way to do this automatically?

Thx for your help!

there is usually a script that starts up during boot that you (as a admin) can edit so as to add commands to run at the last stage of boot process.
You can simply add the same commands that you normally type to bring the nic up...
i.e. # ifconfig eth0 up

Unsure where this is in SUSE... but im sure someone can help (or you may already know even).
In slackware it is /etc/rc.d/rc.local
in ubuntu is /etc/init.d/rcS

good luck!

Do you have the /etc/sysconfig/network file.
If yes, try to put NETWORKING=yes in that, and check if it works.

Forgot to mention,
also try ONBOOT=yes in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

The ONBOOT=yes option can be set in YaST also.
