Emerge,gentoo,PPPoE
Hey, i have PPPoE, and if i am in gnome, i set it up, and type adsl-start, and it says it connects. But if i type emerge whatever, it wont find any hosts. ifconfig tells me that it is connected and that it has an IP and everything.
When i was setting up gentoo, i could connect and download. Butnow that i have a GUI , it seems to not let me emerge stuff. Do i need to be in a command line only for this?
I am jsut startign with gentoo, so if answers could be explained a little, that would be awesome, thanks

Hey,
I just started on gentoo myself as well. During installation did you copy the resolv.conf file from the livecd/etc to /etc? And did you run the mirrorselect?
ps. You can emerge packages from a terminal emulator as well. However, why not use the first terminal [ctrl][alt][f1] while doing other stuff on your graphical console [ctrl][alt][f7].

i dont remember if i copied that file or not, but i did select my mirror, becausre i could emerge the files before i installed gnome. It should work though, because it says it connects when i type adsl-start, and it gives me an ip, so i am not sure, any more ideas?
