Email Server

I've two machines:
m1.mydomain -> which is running both DNS and Mail servers.
and
m2.mydomain -> which is a Mail server.

the settings in m2 are proper to accept the mail for mydomain.

And the DNS in m1 is configured so that m2 is the primary Mail server for mydomain.

However, when i send an email to user@mydomain it's received by the old Mail server m1.
Although when i send the message user@m2.mydomain it goes directly to m2.mydomain!

Any way to fix that!

After you changed your DNS settings did you restart named and allow time for the old MX record to expire?? Running on the assumption that the DNS MX records have a Time To Live (TTL) like a 'normal' DNS record does then if you were to make the change and then instantly try it there is no guarantee that the system sending the mail would lookup which MX it was supposed to use again.

Can anyone on the forum offer any confirmation about the TTL of MX records?

just a thought

Jamie...

Maybe it's important to mention that I'm using "dnsconf" GUI to configure my DNS. Always after I finish the configurations I click on "Activate the Changes" before quiting the "dnsconf" GUI.
