Elive

hey all, im using the newest version of elive and my internet is very slow. i just installed and tried Google but couldn't be found. so i go into network configurations. im using a wireless bridge. so its just a wire from the unit to my PC and it acts as wireless but the comp sees it as ethernet. It says eth0 is active, but i still have no internet.so i go into properties it says DHCP so i click that still no internet. Then i go to DNS servers delete all of the others and put mine in there. i've been having trouble lately with networks. id always be on someone else's network and not my own. but when i put my dns the internet would stay at looking up Google.com for like 2 minutes then connecting then waiting then transferring then done. Very long process. then i take a speed test, and it says a diff ip so I'm not on my network. but the speed was download speed 63 kbps and upload 55 kbps. i live in new jersey and this is a terrible speed. So please if there is any way to resolve this please let me know.

Is the net connection from the machine you are connecting through faster? or is it just as slow?
Have you tried manually selecting your own wireless network, and manually feeding your computer the correct network settings?
Have you tried other distributions, maybe knoppix?
(disclaimer: I have not had very good experiences with elive)

ya, i cant choose my wireless network cuz the bridge may be wireless in a way. the computer sees it as ethernet. and ya knoppix internet worked well, but very unstable as i remember. not that sure though.
