Effects of changing ip address.


I changed my IP address to the one of google.com(to check what happen),but what i found was that my net connectivity got lost.
Can anyone please tell me the reason?

Because Google's IP address is a public IP. Yours is a private IP unique to your router. The IPs a router gives out are determined by the netmask set on your router (usually, 255.255.255.0). This means that the first 3 numbers in the IP address matter. These first three numbers are usually 192.168.2 or .1. That means that your computer's IP address must be 192.168.2.{0-255}(exclusive).
