Hey guys, ive got a bit of a problem. I really want to move away from windows to linux, so ive downloaded some distros. (FC2, SUSE, Knoppix, MD 10) ive tryed all of them and mandrake seems to be the one for me. Primeraly because it has good RPM management....
Ive got a d-link DSL 200 Modem, and i wanted to connect to my uk internet provider (giointernet) So i downloded the aproprient rev of ECIasdl (0.9.2) (RPM) and installed it. Easy enuff (with all dependencys). Braught up the console and ran eciconf.sh (see config file below)
On windows i use :
Framing Mode :
RFC 2364 PPPoATM NULL Encapsulation.
With G.DMT Modulation (in multimode in windows.)
VCI = 38 VPI = 0
Code:
VID1=0547
PID1=2131
VID2=0915
PID2=8000
MODE=VCM_RFC2364
VCI=38
VPI=0
FIRMWARE=/etc/eciadsl/firmware00.bin
SYNCH=/etc/eciadsl/synch02.bin
PPPD_USER=xxx@xxx
PPPD_PASSWD=
USE_DHCP=no
USE_STATICIP=no
STATICIP=
GATEWAY=
MODEM=D-Link DSL200
PROVIDER=UK..Giointernet
DNS1=213.130.128.32
DNS2=213.130.128.33
SO i opened the console up and ran start modem.
Code:
[root@localhost root]# startmodem
setting up USB support (1/5)..
loading firmware (2/5)..
GlobeSpan USB ADSL WAN Modem compatible modem found (in 2017ms)
ECI load 1: success
firmware loaded successfully

ECI load 2: success

Couldn't get channel number: Input/output error

Any help would be VERY much apreciated.
As you can tell i am a linux
