easy smtp

hey...i've got a simple lan w/2 M$ 'puters connected to a linux system. i have an app. which is running on all 3 systems that has data allready entered on the linux system. this app supports the importing of data via smtp. is their an easy way to set up smtp on the linux box so i can login via smtp and import this data.??? currently i have it set up via firewalls so that the m$ boxes cannot access the net... i want to keep it that way, with them just accessing the linux box only.
what is the easiest way to do this?

Just install an smtp server such as sendmail, exim, qmail or postfix.

And of those, Postfix is probably the most easy, and Sendmail is probably the most difficult.

Qmail is probably the most secure. Depends what you are looking for really.

rokay.....didnt know if there was an 'easier' solution than the obvious----something like a qmail lite or an faster, lightweight email server...
my main thing is in everything i've read/found.....its naturally assumed that you want to be able to connect out to the internet or process hundreds of email and hour...i need neither....since these are stand alone m$ machines(no patches) i have shielded them from the internet---everything i need is downloaded to the linux box and then the windows machine loads it from the linux box....

i just need to learn how to set up a server on linux box A and just have it wait w/o connecting past the lan and have m$B box's smtp routine connect to it and pull in the 30 odd email messages--which will automatically load them into the app i need.... and do the same thing w/ m$C box...

some odd questions i have are.....for the m$ mail server app...what settings do i put in the server settings and where do i adjust qmail/postfix to answer to these settings
