easiest way to the Internet

I'm a newbie with Linux, having never used it. I just wiped clean an older Dell Latitude laptop and installed Ubuntu Linux - very impressive indeed but, of course, I'm looking at just an OS. I have no way to access the Internet since my PCMCIA cards use Win drivers. What would be the most efficient way to get to the Web; try to find Linux drivers for these older cards (ethernet and modem) or purchase new hardware? If the latter what should I look for?
Thanks in advance.

are you sure your NIC's Driver not work?

hello pal,

are you sure your NIC's driver just not work or it is just because you forgot to turn on your NIC since LINUX started?

try to go to the terminal and type:

su <Press ENTER>

<followed by enter your root password> then

ifconfig eth0 up

and see how it's work?
