Question E-mail problems in a Suse 8.0 Proxy Server (squid)

Hi, I have been trying to resolve this thing for the past few days and I havenīt been able. Please I do need some help.

I just sept up a Linux Server with Suse 8.0 and Iīm using it as a proxy server with squid. Now Iīm able to surf the net from the workstations (Windows 2000/XP/98/Me) that I have behind the proxy. But when i use the Microsoft outlook to get my e-mail from my ISP (I do not have a mail server) i get the message that is not able to locate the smtp and pop3 server from my ISP. It seems that the proxy only allows (so far) http request to pass trough him and go to the Internet, but does not allow SMTP and POP3 request to pass trough him.

I would really appreciate if someone can help me out. I have tried a lot of things and i have search the web with no luck. If anyone need further info just let me know. Thank you in advance.

This is not much related to sendmail. This I believe is a gateway/routing problem. I think your windows m/cs are trying to reach your isp via squid or directly. And your squid server is the oly m/c connected to isp. Try using netscape or pine from squid server to access the mail from isp. Try setting up a gateway using iptables or somethig similar. Mail me if you think I got your problem wrong.

Sarin thank u very much for your response. It was a routing problem that i resolve with a script that enmascaredes all the port 25 and 110 request from my lan to the Internet. Thanks.
