E-mail problem

I'm using send mail and when I put FQDN as hostname in /etc/sysconfig/network file, mails are not goung out, when I just put the hostname it works fine. What's going on? Isn't it suppose to be FQDN? Thanks in advance.

Problem must be in /etc/hosts...

What are the contents of /etc/hosts file..
In that file you must have mapped the host name with your ip address . If you map the FQDN with your system's ip address in /etc/hosts .. then you will not find any problem in sending the mail using sendmail...

And whenever you face a problem in sendmail... please do a
tail -f /var/log/maillog

this will give you a complete information.

Here is the error message I got.

>>> MAIL From:<root@abd.com> SIZE=44
553 5.3.0 <root@abd.com>... Host unknown in this domain <<<<
root... Connecting to abc.net. via relay...

cat /etc/sysconfig/network
NETWORKING=yes
HOSTNAME=super.abd.com

cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
xx.xx.xx.xx super.abd.com super

I have removed abd.com /etc/sysconfig/network and it started to work.

Any Idea?

you need to add abd.com to /etc/mail/local-host-names
