Dynamic DNS HowTo
This isn't easy... I have read over 3 Howto's and they are all a little different... RH9.... Do I have to configure all the clients with something? If so thats not a very efficient way if your network has over 200pcs running linux... you cant have a network admin doing all that isnt there an auto get or auto config?
can DDNS be set up using the Util under the Server Settings menu? |
DNS server is BIND v? ?
Linux clients? Windows clients? -K |
uh.. RedHat 9 bind is version9.something what is the command for that again... forgot..
|
There are no clear DDNS how to out there. Every one I have read said a little bits different. On other hand, I still can not get it to work. Why it so hard compare to Windows DDNS setup? Any help here appreciates...

I am sure it is not HARD to get DDNS work for RedHat. Its a matters of instructions.....

if you're only on a small, low performance network you can achieve a dynamic network instantly using a nifty little program, dnsmasq:
http://thekelleys.org.uk/dnsmasq/doc.html not suitable for large complex implementations but great for home networks. |
Take a look at the thread:
"How to setup Dynamic DNS on RedHat 9" at http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=97222 We have been discussing DDNS and DHCP in some length. The posts include some fairly detailed descriptions and examples. -Glenn |
