duplicate character see when telnet from linux pc to a switch

I am using Redhat enterprise linux 6

Whenever i telnet to a switch, and execute some command
i see duplicate characters

for e.g if i type s it gets displayed as ss

if i want to type sh ver

i see sshh vvee

how to get rid of it

if i telnet from windows pc into a switch i dont see duplicate characters

It looks like the RHEL telnet client is configured to echo characters whereas the PC client is not. Check your .telnetrc file (the . means its hidden) to see if by default echo is set on.
