Hey,
I am quite a newbie in the area of networking and therefore my question may seems a little bit strange to you. Nevertheless I hope you can help me:
I want to send a UDP stream from PC A to PC B - so far so good. However I want to duplicate it and send it over physical seperated networks to PC B. My first thought was that I introduce a multicast - nevertheless I do not know if this will work. Before I try it I wanted to ask you if you know of any possibilities to duplicate UDP streams.
You could just capture the udp stream with tcpdump to a file and then use any number of replay programs to send the udp contents once you've moved the file to the other network.
Thanks for your answer!
However I think I made a mistake in my explanation - i have a UDP stream and I want to send it parallel at the same time over two physical seperated networks to one and the same PC - in other words I want to get a redundant UDP stream. So my question is how can I duplicate the UDP stream at the sender and how can I tell my nic configuration to send the one stream through NIC1 and the other through NIC 2
Easiest way without multicast would be to have your app bind two udp sending sockets, one to each interface, and then just send the packet out both sockets.
